| The
village is situated in a valley encircled by imposing
cliffs from which a waterfall cascades approx.
30 metres. Autoire has a mild climate, with early
spring weather, hot summers and a generally long
and sunny autumn.

Autoire has hardly changed since ancient times.
The beautiful manor houses with their square “pigeonniers”
(dovecotes), wooden beams and attractive sloping
tiled roofs as well as the distinctive castles
in the centre of the village are a real delight
for the tourist. Foies gras, “cabécous”
(a fresh goat cheese), honey, alcool de prune
(a plum digestive) and “ratafia” a
before dinner cocktail are the specialities of
this area which must be tried.

Autoire is a member of an exclusive club entitled
“Les
plus beaux villages de France” (The
most beautiful villages in France). |
